TJ International receives new BPIF Seal of Excellence

TJ International receives the new BPIF Seal of Business Excellence at The All Party Parliamentary Print Group (APPG)

The printing industry is fortunate to have an active All Party Parliamentary Group dedicated to print; All Party Groups are fairly informal groups of members of the Commons and the Lords who have an interest in either a subject, such as print, or indeed a country.

The All Party Parliamentary Print Group (APPG) was established in 2001 and exists to provide a forum in which the issues impacting on the printing industry may be debated; thereby promoting wider understanding of those issues and the industry, the competitiveness of the industry and opportunities for its current and future employees and raising the profile of the printing industry amongst parliamentarians.
The All Party Parliamentary Print Group Reception in the Terrace Pavilion at the House of Lords was a great destination for printers and parliamentarians to network and share concerns in a relaxed environment. In support of this year's theme 'Print - beyond advanced manufacturing' a new BPIF publication was launched at the event showcasing nine companies that demonstrate innovation and the use of cutting-edge technology in the UK printing industry.

The reception started with a welcome and introduction by All Party Group Chairman Lord O'Neill of Clackmannan and short speeches by Unite National Officer Peter Ellis and Two Sides Director Martyn Eustace.

BPIF Chief Executive Kathy Woodward described how the printing industry was responding to the challenges of rapidly changing technologies, the public's desire for virtual reality experiences, "greenwash", and falling levels of literacy: all of which had been accompanied by the turmoil of the recent financial meltdown.
She urged the Government to recognise that print ticks all the right boxes so far as advanced manufacturing is concerned, and not to adopt a restricted view of what constitutes manufacturing success. Woodward then launched the BPIF's new Seal of Business Excellence, which is designed to enable members to show their customers and suppliers how well they do business. She presented the first certificates to T J International, AGI Media, and Printoff Graphics.
