Future Leaders Survey produced by UCAS
The Future Leaders Survey produced by UCAS, a Beacon Company, and the sustainable development charity Forum for the Future asked everyone who applied to a UK university or college in 2007 about their views of the future. With over 25,000 respondents, the research is invaluable input for any company’s graduate recruitment strategy and also provides a unique insight into the hopes and expectations of the next generation of future leaders.
The results of The Future Leaders Survey 2007-08 show:
- What students think the world will be like in 25 years time
- What the big challenges facing humanity are
- Who they expect action from
- Where our future leaders expect their happiness to come from
With a startling 78% of respondents believing significant change is needed if society is to survive into the next century; and 86% supporting the idea that material consumption must reduce; its quite clear where future leaders will focus their attention. This suggests business needs to be doing much more to deliver the kind of future this generation of students hopes for. The report also shows that work is going to be of great importance to the happiness of future leaders with 82% saying that having a job they find interesting will be very important to their future happiness, with 40% claiming that a job that contributes to society will be very important.
The Future Leaders Survey makes fascinating reading for any business interested in future generations and the world we live in.
