John o' Groats to Land's End - cycle challenge
Following the March B&WE Beacon Boardroom, held at bibic (British Institute for Brain Injured Children), Ian Scott, Supply Director at fellow Beacon company Mulberry Company (Design) Ltd was so inspired, he has decide to use a cycle challenge he had planned, to raise money for bibic.
On Friday, 30th April Ian will set out from John o' Groats to cycle the 870 miles to Land's End over 10 days.
bibic is a national charity based in Bridgwater who work with children with development problems that include Autism, Cerebral palsy, Down's syndrome, Brain injury, Attention Deficit Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Aspergers Syndrome.
Its personnel work with the whole family, initially dedicating 2 whole days with the family to gain a full assessment that will build a unique profile for each child. They then work with the child and the family over an extended period to help the child's development.
Imagine if your child didn't know it was their birthday, if making them smile seemed impossible, imagine giving them a hug and getting no response, looking into their eyes and getting no connection, them screaming for no apparent reason, or the pain of waiting for them to say 'I love you' for the first time. Imagine them unable to reach for a toy and wondering if, in time, they will learn to play.
bibic work with families and children with these problems and really changes their lives. Yet bibic receives no Government funding; it relies on donations.
You can help Ian raise as much money as he can! He has set up a 'just giving' web page;
Just Giving/Ian Scott Fundraising
Ian says; "I aim to raise as much as I can for this truly worthy charity. I'm sure, collectively, we could raise a lot of money and really show what Beacon can do. Thanks ever so much"
