Local Firms Opportunity To Learn To Be Best In The South West
The two lead Beacon company speakers at the 'Securing Sales and Winning New Business' event being held at the Imperial Hotel, Torquay, between 9am and 2pm, are Rob Holmes, founder and chairman of Gro-Company and Chris Ingram, founder and chairman of Continental Underfloor Heating.
Kingsbridge-based The Gro-Company is the pioneering firm which invented baby sleeping bags and subsequently changed the way babies in the UK are put to bed, selling over 2 million GroBags since launch eight years ago. Founder Holmes was a finalist in the 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
Beacon company Continental is one of the UK's leading suppliers of energy efficient heating and is a major employer in North Cornwall. Founder Chris Ingram will also be on hand to offer expert advice and support.
There will also be an interactive session with Andy McCreadie - director of Sandler Training and sales and management training expert - who will help attendees understand the reasons why sales growth can stall and provide alternative strategies to overcome the issue.
The event will bring business leaders together to share ideas and strategies that will lead to accelerated growth, not just for their own companies but that of the regional economy as a whole.
Debbie Passmore, Partnership Executive for the Torbay Development Agency said: "In today's turbulent trading environment, many firms are finding it increasingly tough to win new business and are struggling to get prospects to sign on the dotted line and make buying decisions. Not only is it getting more and more difficult to get in front of the decision-makers that matter, but when firms do manage to secure a new business meeting, they are under increasing pressure to discount their prices significantly and squeeze profit margins to clinch deals.
"This training event is the third in a series of events instigated by the Torbay and South Devon Employment and Skills Board and funded by the Torbay Development Agency. Working with local partners, these workshops aim to raise the bar in terms of local businesses' skills levels, and encourage the region's managers and senior directors to achieve bigger and better things. Our 'Securing Sales and Winning New Business' event will help businesses throughout the area do exactly that."
Sue Baker, project director at Beacon South West added: "In times like these it pays to have alternative strategies up your sleeve to secure new sales and win new business - it could make the difference between survival and failure. This free event will enable ambitious firms to adapt to the unprecedented trading environment and come up with winning ways to succeed and buck the current downturn."
