Beacon South West

South West firms learn to be world beaters!

South West companies are set to be given a unique insight into how Renishaw is maintaining vital manufacturing jobs here in the UK whilst competing against low production costs enjoyed by emerging economies.

The workshop, which is being organised by Beacon South West, a South West of England Regional Development Agency (RDA) initiative that brings together the region's most successful companies to promote success and spearhead regional growth, is being hosted by Renishaw, a world-leader in metrology and Beacon company, at its headquarters in Wotton-under-Edge.

Under the theme of 'combining world leading product innovation with low cost production', delegates will hear first-hand how Renishaw has managed to remain successful without the need the need to take production offshore. Additional expertise will be provided by the South West Manufacturing Advisory Service and West of England Aerospace Forum.

An innovator in metrology, the science of measurement, for more than 30 years, Renishaw has managed to remain highly profitable while controlling almost all of the manufacture of its products from its base in the Cotswolds.

Says Sue Baker, project director of Beacon South West: "Renishaw is a real example to those companies in the rest of the region looking to break out of the mould and embrace the benefits of being more innovative."

The event will occur at 9.30am on 27 November at Renishaw, New Mills, Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, GL12 8JR.
