Success beckons for South West businesses at Beacon’s Breakthrough Forums
Beacon South West is launching its '2009 Breakthrough Forum' programme. This innovative initiative offers the region's ambitious business leaders the chance to learn from the hindsight and practical experience of leaders of successful 'Beacon' companies.
The series of Breakthrough Forums are designed to help business leaders work through the 'live' challenges facing their businesses by providing an opportunity to tap into the knowledge and experience of renowned experts and other successful companies which are successfully navigating through the current economic climate.
To give businesses an insight in to the Breakthrough Forums, a greater understanding of this unique offer and the significant benefits of being involved , Beacon South West has organised a free 'taster' event to be held on 23 June 2009 at Canalside, Taunton from 9.30am to 11.30am.
John McMahon, an internationally acclaimed business expert with over 25 years' experience of advising businesses will be leading the taster event and providing attendees with valuable insights into creating, exploiting and sustaining competitive advantage during these challenging, unprecedented economic times.
John, founder of Forum 21, a leading consultancy that works with key business support organisations to develop strategies necessary for success in the 21st century, has worked with over 200 businesses in the UK and consulted extensively in Europe, the USA and Asia as well as undertaken assignments on behalf of the EU, the World Bank and the UN.
Sue Baker, project director of Beacon South West, said: "The ever-changing economic climate and upheavals in the financial sector are prompting many to reassess how they run their businesses. There is no doubt that this is a time of significant change and businesses need constantly to re-evaluate what they are doing, where they are headed and what needs to be addressed in order to achieve their goals.
"Beacon Breakthrough Forums are designed specifically to meet the needs of the region's 'cream of the crop' firms and provide a unique opportunity to tap into John's expertise, and the combined experiences of other very successful Beacon companies, as a stimulus for the future development of their business. June's taster event will not only provide an invaluable flavour of what will be addressed in our comprehensive Breakthrough programme, but will be a chance to hear John's forthright views on the future development of businesses in today's turbulent marketplace."
John McMahon added: "Even in the most successful companies, there is no time for complacency and there is always room for improvement and opportunities to tweak and fine-tune what you are doing to adapt to the external environment. These Breakthrough Forums will enable participants to develop a realistic perspective for their firm and plan how to develop a shared vision and clear understanding of their businesses' future direction."
The Breakthrough Forums programme is one of many activities hosted throughout the year by Beacon South West which bring business leaders together to share ideas and strategies that will lead to accelerated growth, not just for their own companies but that of the regional economy as a whole. To date, there are 216 companies with Beacon status, including Bristol International Airport, Dorset Cereals, Burts Potato Chips, Aardman Animations, UCAS, Mulberry, HJ Heinz Frozen Foods and the Midas Group.
